Why cant Oblivion install in my Laptop? i get to the setup.exe and it doesn't open up the wizard.?

i have a souped-up version of the Acer Travelmate 4100. it can run some really big games like FSX. so i tried to install Oblivion. it got to the point where the screen said it was opening InstallShield Wizard. the computer didn't crash; i could still do tons of things. the installation didn't open. i know it isn't the disk, because i installed it fine on another computer later. the disk reader on my laptop is fine, because it can read fsx perfect. the computer itself... not a single problem. so why can't i install oblivion? (the elder scrolls one)
