I sent two packages of items to return on June 17th, one to Ohio and one to New York. Neither have arrived yet?

I made one package, a book returned to sender to go to Ohio. And the second package was a ring I returned to a company in New York. I live in Oregon so I knew it might take a week for the packages to get there, but today is June 30th and the companies still say they havent received the items. Is this normal or should I be worried? And no I didnt buy insurance because i'm a dummy. :(
